Will You Be Open for Business?

Remember last December, when the ice storm knocked power out?  Did you drive around looking for a hot cup of coffee, only to find shop after shop closed?  Finally, you found a place with their lights on – and the lines were out the door.  Which one of those companies would you rather be?  The one making money, or the one sending clients to the competition?

In conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security’s National Preparedness Month, Tech Valley Continuity will walk you through the process of identifying not only environmental threats to your business operations, but also those caused by humans and technology.  You will learn how to implement a successful planning process to protect against wide-spread disease, a computer crash, loss of utilities (phone, Internet, electricity), and facility fire.  You will even walk away with some practical suggestions on how to mitigate the effects of these crises.

The seminar will be conducted by Geoff Turner, President of Tech Valley Continuity, a business continuity consulting firm that helps businesses turn potential disasters into an annoyance.  He has been a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) since 1997 and has developed plans for a variety of companies with single and multiple locations.  In 2006 a company he worked for experienced a fire, and was fully operational while working under his D/R plan for 6 weeks.  In May of this year, Geoff participated in a NYS Homeland Security Business Roundtable discussion, facilitated by Senator Eric Adams.  Geoff has also conducted numerous local seminars and spoken at a national continuity conference.
